St Peters Group- Their history

The St Peters group meets informally on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the each month except during January. The group meets in the St Peters Church Hall in Hillside Road, South Dunedin from 10am until 2pm. Bring your lunch and whatever you are working on. Tea and coffee provided. Cost is $3.50 per session to cover the cost of hiring the hall.

St Peters group is organised and run by Quilters and Patchworkers of Otago and is open to the general public.

The first meeting was held on February 21st 1990 and meetings were held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at a charge of $1.00.  As the group gained popularity it began meeting twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays  and eventually adding two hours in the afternoon.

On 24th February 2015 the St Peters group celebrated their 25th anniversary with a cake and 25 candles.

The St Peters group is not confined to patchwork and quilting alone- we have knitters, teddy and toy makers, embroidery, cross stitch, bag makers as well- anything in the craft world.  While we don’t teach classes, there everyone is only too willing to help or advise someone on how to get started on a project and sharing their knowledge.

Bring your patchwork or craft

There are good facilities for heating up lunch in the winter and the group is warm and friendly.
