About our Hobby..
Quilting is the stitching which holds the three layers of the quilt ‘sandwich’ together while forming a decorative design.
Quilting can be done either by hand or machine. Hand quilting is usually done in a quilting ‘hoop’ or on a quilting ‘frame’ using special needles, called ‘betweens’, and quilting thread.
Machine quilting is usually done on a regular sewing machine, using a ‘walking foot’ to help all the layers feed smoothly though the machine. ‘Freehand’ or ‘free motion’ quilting is done with a ‘darning foot’.
Mercia Hunter is the tutor for the Trapunto Class to be held at Bayfield High School on Sunday 28 August 2016. The class will be limited to 15. No sewing machine required. Requirements will be provided on full payment of the class fee. phone Rachael 454 5426 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place.
